BBM Canada to Adopt PPM 360 Technology
Arbitron Inc. has announced that it has developed a new version of the Portable People Meter which has been recognized as the PPM 360. This new device represents quite an improvement for electronic audience measurement and BBM Canada has made the decision to adopt this new and thrilling technology for its radio and TV panels in Canada following Arbitron and BBM testing.
There are several significant advancements noticeable with the new PPM 360. These features include:
- Wireless GPRS technology which allows each PPM to communicate directly with BBM while eliminating the need for in-home equipment
- A sleek and smaller form factor which should be particularly alluring to younger panel members
- Direct connection to headphones allowing headphone listening and viewing to be more easily captured
- Multiple in-home Bluetooth beacons which is an improvement over current technology that detects when the PPM is at home
- An LCD text screen on the meter which allows BBM to communicate directly with the panelists
- Simple recharging through a standard USB port
- A continuation of current PPM technology that uses sensitive motion detectors and feedback to ensure high levels of cooperation as well as the same audio capture as current PPMs
