Shaw Media Launching All-News Network for British Columbia
Shaw Media is expected to launch B.C.’s first all-news channel by the summer of 2012. Building on the 50-year legacy of news and community service at Global BC, the yet-to-be-named news network will provide viewers across the province with the day’s top local, national and international headlines 24-hours-a-day. Global News’ all-news network will be made available on-air as well as online at GlobalNews.ca and users will also be able to access the channel using mobile platforms.

A recent Yahoo! and Ipsos study finds gaming (67%), social networking (58%), weather (52%) and music (52%) apps are most commonly downloaded. Astral Radio has developed 10 applications for its radio stations across Canada, as well as an app that features a live stream of any Astral-owned radio station. The apps are available for all iOS devices and have already been downloaded by more than 450K Canadians!

Canada Loves Bomb Girls!
Bomb Girls, Global’s latest original production, has made a huge impression, garnering over 1.4 million viewers (2+, national) for its premiere broadcast. The first episode of the six-part miniseries won its timeslot nationally, 2+ and in the key Adults 18-49 (455,400) demographic, marking a triumphant start to the New Year. More College Games are Coming to The Score
Score Media recently announced it has entered into a long-term programming agreement with FOX International Sports Channels that includes at least 250 hours per year of live collegiate content and other FOX Sports and FUEL TV programming. Featuring top college football, basketball and hockey games, the deal includes some of America’s top college conferences including the Big 12 Conference, Pac-12 Conference and Conference USA.

All-Time Record for Hawaii 5-0!
Hawaii 5-0’s premiere on Séries+, presented as a double-feature between 8 pm and 10 pm, hit an all-time record in terms of viewership on the network! Average viewership for All 2+ was 547K viewers, with Adults 25-54 making up 253K viewers, and Women 25-54 bringing in 125K viewers!
